15-hour Mandatory Continuing Education Based on the 2008 Massachusetts Electrical Code / National Electrical Code
Any Electrician who will need to renew a license on or before July 31, 2010 should take this course. The Instructor is approved in Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Maine. Please bring to the program a copy of the 2008 National Electrical Code. You will be provided with a copy of the Massachusetts Amendments and other handouts.

GCI is pleased to offer this correspondence course. It is intended for those pursuing their Massachusetts Pipefitters license. The course is open to both members and non-members alike. This course is meant to be used in conjunction with the latest edition of the ASME/ANSI B31.1 Power Piping Code. A copy of the code must be purcheased through ASME directly. The course is divided into 14 modules of 25 hours each.
Prerequisite 6+ years experience for a total of 350 hours.
Continuing Education for Plumbers and Gas Fitters
This six or three hour program will review Code for Plumbers & Gas Fitters required by the Plumbing Board for license renewal – Continuing Education
Plumber Journeymen & Masters must attend the full 6 hours
Gas Fitter Journeymen & Masters must attend the last 3 hours
After completion of program and payment of tuition, a completion certificate will be issued.

CSL / MA Construction Supervisors Prep Course/Building Code Update

This five day, 16-hour course is designed not only to assist individuals in preparing for the Massachusetts Construction Supervisors License Exam, but also for those seeking a review of the many changes in the Massachusetts Building Code. Some home study is required. The State requires a minimum of three years experience in construction prior to submitting an application for the license.
The license allows the holder to obtain building permits and supervise construction on one and two family residences as well as commercial construction. (Please note that some major Massachusetts cities require their own licensing for commercial work.)

- Anyone signing up for this class must register with the State on their own to take the exam. State license exam application forms may be obtained from Prometric: http://www.prometric.com/massachusetts ( Paperwork must be received by the State a month in advance of desired test date. )

- Participants will need the following 2 Code Books for the class: 7th Edition/Basic/Commercial $50.00 and 7th Edition/One and Two Family Dwellings $35.00

Hoist License Exam Instructions
Each student must submit the following information to the Department of Public Safety (DPS) one month in advance of desired test date:
- Completed application**
- A check made out to the Dept. of Public Safety in the amount of $75.00
- A photocopy of your valid drivers license
- A passport sized photo
- A copy of a D.O.T. card (from your doctor’s office)
All of the above items are part of the application. The Dept. of Public Safety will NOT accept incomplete applications. Send signed originals in ink only. NO EXCEPTIONS.
Applicants will be assigned the date and location for their test by the Dept of Public Safety.

Hoist Prep & Exam 1B
This 12-hour program will prepare participants for the 1B Hoisting License exam. This program covers Hand Signals, Reading Load Capacity Charts and Crane Inspections. Emphasis on questions typically asked at this level of testing. Minimum of 20 students is required to conduct the program.
Hoist Prep & Exam 1C / 2A
This 8-hour program will prepare participants for a 2A & 1C license. 1C covers a Lull. 2A covers Crawler and Rubber-tired Excavators, Backhoes and Front-end Loaders. Minimum of 20 students is required to conduct the program. PLEASE NOTE: 1C is taught in the first class and 2A is taught in the second class.
Note : License class does not cover equipment that uses wire rope hoist (1A & 1B).
Knowledge of hand signals is essential. Both classes will consist of practice test questions and prep for taking exam.

This two day, 8-hour program will review regulations and ASME codes as it relates to the journeyman requirements. The instructor is well-versed in the pipefitter trade and code. This course is an important tool for anyone preparing for the journeyman’s or master’s license exam.
